Denim Jeans Things!

Hello divas!

New Year spirits on the rise, right? Well, before you go enjoy your New Year, I’m leaving you with one more tip to carry over to 2018: Denim Jeans Things!

A typical denim jeans is a never-miss item in every person’s wardrobe. Denim can easily transition from a casual outfit to a semi-formal outfit since it can be dressed up or down depending on the occassion.

  • Always opt for medium-weight to heavy-weight denim than light-weight denim.

Such fabrics last longer and conform better to curves since they have a nice stretch too while light-weight denim which is hardly durable.

  • Go for stretchy denim.

When purchasing denim jeans, consider their stretch by observing for a 2-3% of spandex. Too much jeans will make them sag too soon while no stretch will surely squeeze. Light weight denim comes with quite some disadvantages like too much stretch or no stretch you bet.

  • Check for stitching.

A good pair of denim jeans will have thick stitching around the hems, sides and pockets to ensure it won’t split under stress especially when wearing; you can manually try to stretch them around these places.

  • Opt for lighter denim washes.

You need dark blue jeans??? Rather go for dark blue jeggings or I’d advocate going for brighter washes of blue than dark blue jeans which have indigo dye thus easily bleeds. My denim jeans do not even bleed a dot.

Before your first wearing, always handwash your jeans while buttoned to prevent creasing and to keep the color intact; learn to wash denim alone especially if it bleeds to avoid spreading dye to other clothes.

When washing, ensure your jeans are inside out and use cold water since hot water shrinks the denim fabric.

Also, don’t use powder bleaches like Omo, Ariel and Sunlight in washing but use on bar soap since these bleaches bleed the dye fast. Rather, for bleeding denim, soak for an hour in a cup of household vinegar or salt in order to seal the dye hence preventing bleeding or if it continues, soak overnight before washing.

Learn to hang your jeans by the waist in good hangers to keep them in shape other than folding them which will bring about creasing.

Avoid wearing your jeans too much for them to last longer.

Also, avoid washing your jeans regularly, you could rather spot clean them.

For and old hack of removing stubborn stains from my jeans, my mother uses acetone nail polish remover and I have seen it work, removing grease or raw banana stains.

Denim jeans are a versatile piece that is easy to wear with anything, there are so many ways to style denim but my today’s look was a polo-denim affair.

I love polo necks especially when they are long-sleeved , and for this white one of mine, I consider it as a jackpot. Finishing up with a pair of blue rubber shoes , I was ready for a day in casual.

I loved the spot I was in when taking the pics…the place is green and pretty, right?

  2. My husband was literally just telling me that I have ruined two pairs of his jeans but putting them in the washing with so many other clothing items! I never knew you had to wash them inside out! Will definitely be doing this from now on!

  3. Great tips! I own like 1626267 denim jeans *exaggerating* but I find myself reach for only one or two of them since they are light and comfy, while the other ones’ material is kinda thick, not really what I like

  4. These are all great tips in choosing and caring for denim jeans. I prefer stretch denims too, and I feel sad when they get worn out because those stretch jeans really fit nicely. I will keep your tips in mind the next time I go shop for a new pair.

  5. I love a good pair of jeans, and my friends and I were just discussing it the other day, where to buy decent jeans that actually fit and I was surprised to find that boys struggle as much as girls to find ones that fit right!
